910 DAY: A CELEBRATION OF LOCAL BREWERIES

910 DAY is September 10th (9/10): an opportunity to celebrate all things in our southeastern portion of the state. Especially BEER.

With well over twenty-five breweries in our region, the local 910 beer scene is constantly evolving with new breweries added annually alongside new beers, events, and other malt-driven magic.

With a beer scene as active and energetic as the 910, a variety of beer styles are readily available throughout our brewing community.

Bills Brewing, Broomtail, Brunswick Beer, Fly Trap, Flying Machine, Front Street Brewing, Leland Brewing, Mad Mole, Outer Dunes, Savard Beer, Wilmington Brewing, Wrightsville Beach Brewing, and more.

Showcasing multiple varieties from an assortment of brew houses, 910 DAY is an unique opportunity to enjoy the creativity and diversity of local brewers and their beloved craft.

WE WERE HERE is a solo exhibition by Leland-based artist Kennedy B. Holley exploring discarded objects as evidence of human presence. The paintings document litter and discarded objects encountered around the artist’s neighborhood and during everyday errands, looking at what we leave behind as quiet records of our presence.

Join the artist for the opening reception on Thursday, September 10 from 6–8 PM at the Leland Cultural Arts Center. The exhibition will remain on view September 8–30. Free and open to the public.

Spend an evening with acclaimed conceptual artist Mel Chin during a special illustrated lecture at CAM.
Known for an expansive creative practice that crosses sculpture, installation, technology, environmental intervention, and collaborative public art, Chin uses art to engage with complex social, political, and environmental issues. Through images and conversation, explore groundbreaking projects from throughout his influential career and the ideas that continue to shape his work.

This event is in partnership with the UNCW Art & Art History department and the Office of High Impact Practices.

Straight from the streets of New Orleans, Tuba Skinny brings a joyful, deeply rooted take on early jazz that feels as fresh as it is timeless. Grounded in the tradition while drawing naturally from blues and other American roots styles, their music reflects the full spirit of New Orleans jazz. Shaped by years of busking in public squares, their sound carries a playful, infectious energy that draws people in. Whether you are a lifelong jazz fan or discovering it for the first time, their performances feel spontaneous, welcoming, and full of life.

For over a decade Tuba Skinny has grown steadily in popularity, releasing twelve albums and touring all over the world. They’ve attracted a wide variety of fans, young and old, neophytes and niche-enthusiasts, with the strength of their musicianship and the scope of their jazz and American roots music catalog. The band is composed of Shaye Cohn (cornet), Barnabus Jones (trombone), Todd Burdick (tuba), Craig Flory (clarinet), Gregory Sherman (guitar and vocals), Max Bien-Kahn (banjo), Robin Rapuzzi (washboard), and Erika Lewis (vocals and bass drum).

While they’ve become known as world-class interpreters of traditional jazz, over the years they’ve branched out into jug band music, spirituals, country blues, string band music, ragtime, and New Orleans R&B. Their approach is a true reflection of Americana, encompassing the full genealogy of popular American music from an early 20th century perspective.

No matter how well known they’ve become or how high profile their gigs have gotten, Tuba Skinny has always returned to the streets. “We continue to play in the street because it’s a public space,” says Shaye. “We get to play for everyone: old, young, rich, poor, people from all walks of life. It keeps things interesting because it’s organic and unpredictable.”

Join the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens for its thrilling "Colonial Wilmington & The Revolution" walking tour on March 13, June 12, September 11 and December 11!

The walking tour will invite guests to learn about how the American Revolution swept across Wilmington in the 1770s by visiting places important to the town's earliest days, including the former jail, courthouse and market sites. Get a unique perspective on what Wilmington would have looked on the eve of the Revolution, just in time for the 250th anniversary of America's independence!

The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

Burgwin-Wright House welcomes the Cape Fear Camera Club on August 28 for their annual exhibit “Images of Distinction” featuring photographers that represent the top 5% of images that have been submitted to both internal club competitions and international competitions with other photography clubs from around the world. They serve as a reminder of the diversity of subjects and styles that exist within the photographic art form as well as the talent of our local members.

The show will be on exhibit until September 19 in the art gallery located in our visitor center.

Show Opening Reception on Friday, August 28 from 6-9pm.

Admission is free; the gallery is open Monday-Saturday between 10am-4pm.

About the Cape Fear Camera Club
Since its inception, the Cape Fear Camera Club (CFCC) has grown to over 160 members and continues to act as a vital educational and creative resource for photographers of all skill levels in the Wilmington area. Through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, social events, field trips, mentoring programs, professionally judged club competitions, as well as national and international competitions through the Photographic Society of America (PSA), CFCC members continue to learn about the field of photography and connect with others who share their passion. The organization also believes in reaching out to the community and each year awards a $500 scholarship to a college student pursuing the study of photography. Additionally, CFCC members offer their services as volunteer photographers for events such as the annual Coastal NC Walk/Run for Autism, the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science's educational programming, and the Federal Point Historic Preservation Society's photo-documentation of the Federal Point region of North Carolina. “Summer Blues and Greens” Exhibition & Sale @ theArtWorks

This exhibition showcases 140+ unique pieces from local artists that feature a variety of blues and greens. The show has a variety of mediums including Oils, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Ceramics, & Glass.

The Gallery will be up until September 12th, 2026. It is open during theArtWorks regular business hours: Wednesday-Saturday 11am - 5pm & Sundays 12 - 5pm
