Introducing Wine Wednesdays! This September through November, Wrightsville Beach Scenic Boat Tours is launching a monthly sunset cruise paired with curated wine tastings, a relaxing new way to take in the views. We're kicking things off with Market House Beer & Wine, a beloved downtown Wilmington bottle shop on the Riverwalk known for its curated selection of dozens of beers and wines. Get to know their favorite pours as the sun sets over Wrightsville Beach.

2026 Jazz at the Mansion
In Honor of Carole Bohrer

Since 2010, the Bellamy Mansion Museum and Cape Fear Jazz Society have partnered to highlight locally, regionally, and nationally acclaimed jazz performers. On the second Wednesday of each month May through September, join us for a concert on the lawn of the Bellamy at 6:30 pm. Performers range from solo songstresses to big bands with a little bit of something for every jazz lover.

Proceeds from ticket sales support the musicians, the Cape Fear Jazz Society, and the Bellamy Mansion Museum.

Shows are outdoors therefore weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the show will be cancelled or rescheduled by 3 pm the day of. Join CAM for a special lunchtime lecture with scholars Dr. Celeste-Marie Bernier and Dr. Bill E. Lawson as they bring the remarkable life and legacy of Anna Murray Douglass to the forefront.

Drawing on more than one hundred surviving letters, essays, speeches, biographies, and memorials, Douglass Family Lives: The Anna Murray and Frederick Douglass Family Biography and Collected Works reveals Anna Murray Douglass as far more than the wife of Frederick Douglass. She was his co-revolutionary and a freedom fighter in her own right.

Bernier and Lawson will explore the complexities of Anna’s life and her critical role in the struggle for freedom, highlighting her often-overlooked contributions as an educator, activist, intellectual, political thinker, artist, philosopher, and strategist. Throughout their lives, Anna and Frederick worked side by side to advance the causes of liberation and equality.

The Douglass Family Lives series also illuminates the lives and work of the wider Douglass family, including their children Rosetta, Lewis Henry, Frederick Jr., Charles Remond, and Annie, each of whom carried forward the family’s legacy of courage and activism.

Admission includes lunch from CAM Café, featuring a selection of handcrafted sandwiches, house chips, fresh fruit, and warm cookies for dessert.

Burgwin-Wright House welcomes the Cape Fear Camera Club on August 28 for their annual exhibit “Images of Distinction” featuring photographers that represent the top 5% of images that have been submitted to both internal club competitions and international competitions with other photography clubs from around the world. They serve as a reminder of the diversity of subjects and styles that exist within the photographic art form as well as the talent of our local members.

The show will be on exhibit until September 19 in the art gallery located in our visitor center.

Show Opening Reception on Friday, August 28 from 6-9pm.

Admission is free; the gallery is open Monday-Saturday between 10am-4pm.

About the Cape Fear Camera Club
Since its inception, the Cape Fear Camera Club (CFCC) has grown to over 160 members and continues to act as a vital educational and creative resource for photographers of all skill levels in the Wilmington area. Through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, social events, field trips, mentoring programs, professionally judged club competitions, as well as national and international competitions through the Photographic Society of America (PSA), CFCC members continue to learn about the field of photography and connect with others who share their passion. The organization also believes in reaching out to the community and each year awards a $500 scholarship to a college student pursuing the study of photography. Additionally, CFCC members offer their services as volunteer photographers for events such as the annual Coastal NC Walk/Run for Autism, the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science's educational programming, and the Federal Point Historic Preservation Society's photo-documentation of the Federal Point region of North Carolina. Discover the colorful world of Andy Warhol at Mary’s Art Explorers! We’ll read Little People, Big Dreams: Andy Warhol by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, then create Warhol-inspired collages using magazine images. After art-making, families will explore CAM’s interactive Silver Clouds exhibition.

This storytime session is perfect for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, though older siblings are welcome to join. Your registration includes admission to the museum all day, so you and your little ones can continue exploring after the program. Space is limited, so preregister to guarantee your spot!

Thursday morning music club meets at 10:30 on the second Thursday Oct. - May. Our upcoming meeting will feature Beverly Andrews and the Classical Carolina trio in the lovely chapel at first Presbyterian Church. Reception will follow.

“Summer Blues and Greens” Exhibition & Sale @ theArtWorks

This exhibition showcases 140+ unique pieces from local artists that feature a variety of blues and greens. The show has a variety of mediums including Oils, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Ceramics, & Glass.

The Gallery will be up until September 12th, 2026. It is open during theArtWorks regular business hours: Wednesday-Saturday 11am - 5pm & Sundays 12 - 5pm
