Fill-in Radio Announcer
WHQR is looking for persons to serve as fill-in Radio Announcers. The position will primarily cover staff absences, hosting live news shifts on an as-needed basis with no guaranteed minimum hours. Depending on qualifications and need, this position may host other content and perform other audio production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fill in for regular news hosts on an occasional basis. Presentation must be professional, with an emphasis on clear and personable communication focused on the listener.
- Voice promos, fundraising content, or other content, as assigned.
- As part of the above responsibilities, operate audio control surface (audio board), with the ability to judge audio levels and properly record and edit content.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
(Priority will be given to candidates with the following skills, but consideration will be given to those with related skills and capacity to learn.)
- Experience with live and pre-recorded on-air radio hosting/announcing.
- Ability to select and edit news stories for broadcast, subject to WHQR’s editorial standards.
- Familiarity with radio broadcast systems and experience operating broadcast equipment as a radio announcer. Experience with audio applications such as Adobe Audition and AudioVault automation software is a plus.
- Good computer skills and facility with Microsoft Office applications.
Hourly pay commensurate with experience.
