Being Deformed Saved My Life draws on the autobiographical portions of the performer-author's book, Stories of Raising Boys: Masculinity, Disability, Gender Expansiveness and Anxiety, published by Temple University Press (2026).

A monthly poetry reading featuring a published poet, followed by an open mic. We ask that you read your own original work.

Jameela F. Dallis is a Durham, NC-based poet and curator. She has poems, interviews, and literary scholarship in Feminist Studies, Honey Literary, The Fight and the Fiddle, and elsewhere. She's a bon vivant who loves dogs, writes in bars, and travels solo, but she's a hopeless romantic, too. Encounters for the Living and the Dead (River River Books, 2025) is her first poetry collection. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill. A weekly gathering of jugglers, hoopers, flow artists, and other object manipulators, including magic, sideshow and other obscure performing arts. There's no formal show, but curious onlookers may see some things flying.

A forum for Jugglers & Circus artists to share tricks, try out new moves, or simply kick back, talk shop, and meet other likeminded artists. If you don't have any circus skills, don't worry. You are still always welcome to come by. ( And maybe even break out that old TopHat for kicks.)
