Join the Burgwin-Wright House for its 2024 Walking Tour Series in downtown Wilmington!
Every second Friday each month throughout 2024, Wilmington's oldest and largest historic site will take history beyond the property for an immersive walking tour of downtown.
On January 12, April 12, July 12 and October 11, the walking tour's theme will be "Cape Fear Legends & Lore." Pulling from nearly 300 years of history, the "Cape Fear Legends & Lore" tour will include stories of the tunnels underneath Wilmington, the legend of Lord Cornwallis' Revolutionary War visit to town, the time Yellow Fever turned the city into a ghost town, and the rebellious age of Prohibition.
The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

Madafo Lloyd Wilson was a storyteller and musician who presented programming in the tradition of Griot - the African storyteller, musician, poet, teacher and person whose responsibility was to keep alive the traditions and values of the people. He performed all over the US, Europe, and Africa.
