Explore, create, and discover the magic of the outdoors in Cape Fear Museum’s Park! Join us for a morning of activities to include:

• Eco Printing: create beautiful prints using flowers and natural materials
• Spider Safari: discover and learn about our eight-legged neighbors
• Birdwatching Station: observe and identify local bird species
• DIY Bug Catcher: craft your own tools for insect exploration
• Wild Imagination Station: invent and build with loose parts
• And more!

Plan to wear clothing that can get a little wet and dirty while exploring outside. And if you need a refreshment, Brighter Days coffee will be here selling tasty treats!

NC Project LEAD, Inc. presents the Socioeconomic Development Summit, Friday, September 26, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hotel Ballast, Wilmington, NC. The event includes a networking breakfast, two panel discussions, an awards luncheon with special guest speaker Charles E. Harbison, a fashion designers’ showcase and fashion show, a business expo, and an exclusive Meet and Greet for registered attendees and invited guests. CEO/Founder & Creative Designer Charles E. Harbison has designed fashions for such celebrities as Beyoncé, Kate Hudson, Ava DuVernay, and Michelle Obama.

Burn at the Barrel is back for round two.

Liftin with Kristin (LWK) and Leaf & Barrel are teaming up on Saturday, September 27 at 9:30 a.m. for a one-of-a-kind outdoor workout in the Leaf & Barrel courtyard in Hampstead, NC.

This 45-minute full-body strength workout will feature kettlebells, dumbbells, resistance bands, and kegs used as equipment. All fitness levels are welcome, and parking is available on site.

Tickets are $10 and include:
• 45-minute strength workout led by Kristin (LWK)
• One free drink ($5 value)
• Automatic entry into AMAZING Giveaways

Participants will automatically be entered to win prizes from LWK, Leaf & Barrel, Steadfast Nutrition, and Topsail Chiropractic, with winners announced after the workout.
Steadfast Nutrition will also be on site offering pre-workout samples beforehand and electrolytes afterward to support recovery.

Leaf & Barrel will open 90 minutes early exclusively for this event, with a $5 mimosa bar and full bar available.

NC Project LEAD's Black-Tie White Lotus Leadership Awards Gala on Saturday, September 27, 5 to 9 p.m., Wilmington Convention Center, 10 Convention Center Drive, Wilmington, NC, includes recognition of emerging and lifetime leader honorees, the awards dinner with the featured evening speaker Maurice “Mo” Green, North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction. Green, an undergraduate and law school graduate of Duke University, has served in his current position since January 1, 2025. Prior to that he served as superintendent of Guilford County Schools and as executive director of Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. A concert by Shana Tucker and the Grammy and Emmy nominated jazz artist John Brown and the Carolina Big Band will follow the awards. Awards Gala tickets are $150 plus fees; $170 plus fees after Sept. 1

Join Wilmington Water Tours as we cruise up the Northeast Cape Fear River to the upper reaches of the black water system of this storied river. Captain Doug Springer will share his extensive knowledge of the history of the area while you take in the flora and fauna along the river banks. We will cruise through the Castle Hayne Aquifer and by the bluffs of the Rose Hill Plantation. Visit our bar for a freshly brewed cup of coffee or the best Bloody Mary on the river.
