Join us for Mary’s Art Explorers on Thursday, October 8th, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Reception Hall. In Celebration of our newest exhibition With A Southern Accent we will be reading Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton, illustrated by Brooke Boynton-Hughes. The children will then enjoy a craft creating their own coat collages with many colors, followed by a 30-minute guided tour through the gallery!

This storytime session is perfect for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, though older siblings are welcome to join. Your registration includes all-day museum admission, so you and your little ones can keep exploring after the program. Space is limited, so preregister to guarantee your spot!

Join the Burgwin-Wright House for its thrilling "Cape Fear Legends & Lore" on April 10, July 10 and October 9.

Pulling from nearly 300 years of history, the "Cape Fear Legends & Lore" tour will include stories of the tunnels underneath Wilmington, the legend of Lord Cornwallis' Revolutionary War visit to town, the time Yellow Fever turned the city into a ghost town, and the rebellious age of Prohibition.

The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

Smack Down Surf City Fishing Tournament

Get ready for a weekend of competitive redfish fishing at Smack Down Surf City, part of the Southern Redfish Cup, coming to Surf City, North Carolina, October 9–10, 2026.

Hosted at Marina Joe’s, the tournament brings anglers together for a high-energy day on the water, competing for big payouts, trophies, and bragging rights.

The weekend kicks off with a Captain’s Dinner on Friday, October 9, from 5:00–7:00 PM, followed by tournament day on Saturday, October 10.

Teams consist of two anglers, with the competition based on the two heaviest slot reds. Artificial baits only.

Whether you're competing on the water or following the action from Surf City, Smack Down Surf City is a great opportunity to experience the local fishing community and the excitement of tournament fishing along the North Carolina coast.

A much-anticipated annual tour of 8 historic homes in the downtown Historic District, first floor only, rain or shine. The homes have been restored, preserved, renovated (kitchen), and will now be shared with guests on the tour. Proceeds benefit Wilmington non-profits through the Residents of Old Wilmington Grants Program.
