Wilmington Dance Festival showcases a diverse range of styles, from ballet and contemporary to hip-hop and African dance. Established in 2002, the festival has become a popular event in the Wilmington arts community, attracting locally and nationally recognized collaborators alike. Madafo Lloyd Wilson was a storyteller and musician who presented programming in the tradition of Griot - the African storyteller, musician, poet, teacher and person whose responsibility was to keep alive the traditions and values of the people. He performed all over the US, Europe, and Africa.

The Spring Garden Festival, sponsored by the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Association of Onslow County and the NC Cooperative Extension, will be held April 27, from 8:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at 4024 Richlands Highway, Jacksonville, NC 28540. A variety of locally grown plants and lovely hanging baskets will be for sale. Free activities for children will be held in the Discovery Garden. Rain barrels will be for sale. The Plant Clinic will be open and staffed to answer gardening questions. Visitors may also enjoy walking through The Discovery Garden to see the Pollinator Garden, the Children's Garden, the Gazebo, and the Pond. Visitors may also check out the Farmers Market.

Due to the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event, Wilmington’s VegFest 2019 will span two days. An exciting lineup of speakers and vegan celebrities will be on hand to educate, showcase and inspire with a variety of family-friendly activities that focus on the vegan lifestyle. In addition to demos, speakers and some 50 vendors, attendees can look forward to food trucks, craft beer and live music. Education Day is set for Saturday, March 30th from 10 am until 5 pm at the venue Events! On Front which is located at 130 N. Front Street. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn all about the benefits and how-tos of a plant-based lifestyle. The festivities continue on Sunday March 31st at the Coastline Convention Center where vendors and demos will further showcase all things vegan. In case you missed it, 2019 was declared the “Year of the Vegan” by several major news outlets. Forbes predicts that 2019 will be the year that more people embrace a plant-based lifestyle and The Economist says that veganism will be this year’s most popular topic. Here’s your chance to discover what all the buzz is about! Tickets for the 2-day festival are $10. Kids under the age of 18 get in for free with a paying adult.
