Based on the DreamWorks Animation hit, How to Train Your Dragon JR. brings fire-breathing action, epic adventure and big laughs to the stage.
Hiccup is a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends one of his deadliest foes – a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes fight against the odds to save both their worlds in this wonderful theatrical adaptation.
How to Train Your Dragon JR. was created through the DreamWorks Theatricals Emerging Writers Program, a collaboration between DreamWorks Theatricals, Music Theatre International, and NBC Universal.

Burgwin-Wright House welcomes the Cape Fear Camera Club on August 28 for their annual exhibit “Images of Distinction” featuring photographers that represent the top 5% of images that have been submitted to both internal club competitions and international competitions with other photography clubs from around the world. They serve as a reminder of the diversity of subjects and styles that exist within the photographic art form as well as the talent of our local members.

The show will be on exhibit until September 19 in the art gallery located in our visitor center.

Show Opening Reception on Friday, August 28 from 6-9pm.

Admission is free; the gallery is open Monday-Saturday between 10am-4pm.

About the Cape Fear Camera Club
Since its inception, the Cape Fear Camera Club (CFCC) has grown to over 160 members and continues to act as a vital educational and creative resource for photographers of all skill levels in the Wilmington area. Through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, social events, field trips, mentoring programs, professionally judged club competitions, as well as national and international competitions through the Photographic Society of America (PSA), CFCC members continue to learn about the field of photography and connect with others who share their passion. The organization also believes in reaching out to the community and each year awards a $500 scholarship to a college student pursuing the study of photography. Additionally, CFCC members offer their services as volunteer photographers for events such as the annual Coastal NC Walk/Run for Autism, the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science's educational programming, and the Federal Point Historic Preservation Society's photo-documentation of the Federal Point region of North Carolina. Outlander in the Cape Fear – September 12 and 13
Join Wilmington Water Tours for a presentation of Outlander in the Cape Fear with Hunter Ingram, Asst. Dir. at Burgwin-Wright Museum. Based on “Burgwin-Wright Presents…Outlander in the Cape Fear” and the books by Diana Gabaldon, Hunter will share how Wilmington played a role in this beloved series–all while cruising the Cape Fear River. This is one of our last cruises for Outlander, be sure to jump aboard.

Our boat, The Wilmington, has comfortable seating for up to 49 passengers, refreshments for all ages at the bar and a restroom on board. This is a 90 minute cruise $40. Boarding is 15 minutes prior to departure.

Explore the waters on a custom pontoon boat around Masonboro Island and Wrightsville Beach. Captained by a naturalist ,this one hour trip provides a combination of natural history and local flora and fauna ecology

“Summer Blues and Greens” Exhibition & Sale @ theArtWorks

This exhibition showcases 140+ unique pieces from local artists that feature a variety of blues and greens. The show has a variety of mediums including Oils, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Ceramics, & Glass.

The Gallery will be up until September 12th, 2026. It is open during theArtWorks regular business hours: Wednesday-Saturday 11am - 5pm & Sundays 12 - 5pm

Tickets are pay-what-you-will, with a suggested donation of $15, or $40 including a book.

Proceeds will benefit the cookbook project for Cape Fear Literacy Council students.
