Soup to Nuts Live!

The Soup to Nuts Live! Concert Series features performers from a wide variety of musical styles: Folk to Blues, Jazz to Rock, Bluegrass, Latin, Roots, Americana, Country and much more.  Just like its namesake program, Soup to Nuts (broadcast Saturday nights at 9pm on WHQR 91.3fm), this concert series is both energetic and eclectic.

STNL! will interview the performers during breaks in the show.  You'll hear the music and find out about the artists who create it, while the performance is recorded live for future broadcast on 91.3fm.  The atmosphere is charged with excitement and the ambience is simply unmatched - there's no other venue like it in the Port City.

Submissions for Soup to Nuts Live!: Whether it's a new voice or a seasoned performer, STNL! is always seeking talent from around our region and beyond.  Our listening gallery is primarily an 'unplugged' space, with an in-house sound system for the benefit of our live audience.  We record & mix independent tracks to hard disk for post production, running back-up media for insurance.

STNL! welcomes submissions for performance consideration.  Send all materials to our downtown Wilmington studio...

WHQR mourns the passing of incredible entertainer, Wilmington native, and famed composer, arranger, pianist, and singer, Grenoldo Frazier (1953-2018) who passed away during the holidays. Grenoldo was monumental in shaping Wilmington’s arts and music scene. No matter the genre--jazz, Broadway and movie music, patriotic favorites, holiday music, or contemporary music done with a twist--Grenoldo was always a captivating performer.

Kelly Mason Smith has been around. From his roots in Wilson, NC, to his successful run with The Mason Smith Band in Wilmington, to his hard-workin' stint on the Nashville music scene, Kelly has made a name for himself with poignant, thoughtful songwriting, high-quality production values, and a tireless work ethic wherever he makes music. Expect all of that, and more, at our next SOUP TO NUTS LIVE! featuring Kelly Smith with Ned Lavengood on Thursday May 24 in the MC Erny Gallery at WHQR in downtown Wilmington.

The next edition of WHQR's Soup To Nuts Live! will feature local jazz ensemble The Jonathan Hill Quartet on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 pm (doors open 6:30 pm) in the MC Erny Gallery at 254 N. Wilmington Faith and Values

Listener Andrea wrote: “I have moved from NY to Wilmington in the past few years, and absolutely love having a radio station that makes me feel connected to the community I have transplanted into. I especially like Communique and the Writers Almanac, and love preparing dinner in the evenings listening to jazz. Thanks for making a 20-something Northerner feel right at home!”
