A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances – this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal! Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school.

Starting May 15th the Wednesday market moves from the top lawn to the lower grounds with room to spread out and enjoy the shade of the Ancient Oaks of Poplar Grove. Come meet your butcher, your baker, your artisan maker, shop small and local and show your support for your neighbors! While you're visiting the market you'll be a short hop to the new Shops at Poplar Grove, home to Grumpy Grandpa's Coffee, A Sink Full of Flowers and the new PG Mercantile. Plan a whole morning to peruse the grounds at no charge and explore this 300 year old historic, 13 acre former peanut plantation. Get your history on by taking a guided Manor House tour ($15 per person for guided tours). Queen Esther's Teas will be moving into the lower floor of the manor so make sure you stop in for a cup! Due to overwhelming development on all sides The Stables (home of the PG rescue animals) will remain closed to the public until further notice as we work to ensure the safety and happiness of our four legged, furry and feathered friends.

Join us for Mary’s Art Explorers on Thursday, May 8th, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Pancoe Education Building. We’ll be reading The Candy Dish, written by Kobi Yamada and illustrated by Adelina Lirius.

This storytime session is perfect for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, though older siblings are welcome to join. Your registration includes admission to the museum for the whole day, so you and your little ones can continue exploring after the program. Space is limited, so preregister to guarantee your spot!

After, participants will create a story-inspired craft. This is a great opportunity for the whole family!

WHQR is celebrating journalism and our service to the community with a wonderful fundraising luncheon on Thursday, May 22 at 12 pm at the Hotel Ballast in downtown Wilmington.

You can join a WHQR table or host your own. We ask for a suggested donation of $125 or more per guest at the luncheon or a host may choose to cover the $1,250 goal for the table and invite friends (payable by cash, check or credit card) . To join a table as an individual (s), email Mary Bradley and indicate the names of who would like to come. If you'd like to host a table, you can also email Mary for more information.

Big Dawg Productions is proud to present “What the Constitution Means to Me”, running May 22-25 and May 29-June 1 at the Ruth and Bucky Stein Theater in Thalian Hall.
Playwright Heidi Schreck’s boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this humorous, hopeful and achingly human play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women in her family and the founding document that shaped their lives. The play delves into the document's meaning, its history, and its relevance to contemporary issues, sparking critical discussions about American society and its values.
Schreck's personal stories and family anecdotes bring the Constitution to life, making it relatable and human.
The play addresses current events and debates, encouraging audiences to consider the Constitution's impact on their own lives and the nation.
