Come celebrate love and local history with the "Outlander in the Cape Fear" walking tour on February 13, May 8, August 7 and November 13!

The walking tour will invite guests to walk in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie Fraser from the global phenomenon book and Starz TV series, "Outlander." Using the North Carolina history that is laced into the romance series, guests will be able to learn about the Colonial Wilmington that real Scottish Highlanders like Claire and Jamie found when they arrived in America in the 1770s.

The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes, stopping at about a dozen places downtown. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

For one day each year, we open the doors to our home and transform it into a gallery for our Annual Open House Art Show, a celebration of art, community, and another incredible year of shows.
Now in its 4th year, the Open House is our opportunity to bring together friends, collectors, artists, and supporters, share Bradley’s latest work, and simply say thank you to everyone who continues to support what we do.
Throughout the house, guests will discover Bradley Carter’s original paintings, acrylic paint-skin journals, his popular holiday series, and his award-winning novel, The Canvas We Share.
More than an art show, the Open House is a relaxed, personal way to celebrate creativity and the community that makes our year possible. The event will be catered by the wonderful Laura Carter, with food and refreshments to enjoy throughout the day, and may even feature a few special guests stopping by along the way.
We are proud to partner with the Arts Council of Wilmington & New Hanover County for this year’s Open House and look forward to welcoming everyone into our home for this special one-day event.

A monthly Poetry event on Pleasure Island sponsored by the Island Arts Council. A featured poet begins the evening by reading followed by an open mic, which will be read and open to all originally written poems.

Jazz at CAM Season 16

Jazz is the original American art form—born here, celebrated worldwide, and alive at Cameron Art Museum.

The 2026–27 season features musicians from North Carolina and beyond, presenting a wide range of jazz traditions and contemporary approaches. Audiences will experience the polyrhythmic sounds of Mangroove, the powerful vocals of Yolanda Rabun, the soulful improvisation of pianist and organist Le’Andra McPhatter, the melodic vibraphone of Brandon Mitchell, the expansive musical experience of the Matt Booth Quartet, and the energetic interplay of the James Fernando Trio.

Jazz at CAM is held on the first Thursday of each month, September through April, except in November.

Powerhouse vocalist Yolanda Rabun takes the Jazz@CAM stage for an unforgettable evening celebrating the music of Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, and Roberta Flack. Through commanding vocals and a natural gift for storytelling, Rabun honors three iconic artists whose music crosses jazz, soul, blues, gospel, and popular song.

Known for her boundless energy, rich voice, and inventive performances, Rabun brings passion and spontaneity to every appearance. Her wide-ranging repertoire includes straight-ahead and contemporary jazz, blues, folk, pop, and gospel, creating performances that feel both timeless and entirely her own.

Rabun has opened for and performed alongside acclaimed artists including Jennifer Holliday, Howard Hewett, Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers, KEM, and Sheila E. She has also performed with North Carolina Opera, the Durham Symphony, and the Raleigh Symphony Free Spirits.

An accomplished Equity actor, Rabun has earned praise for her work on regional theater stages alongside Tony Award-winning performers. She is also a sought-after motivational speaker and has appeared on numerous television and radio programs.

Experience the voices and stories of Nina, Nancy, and Roberta reimagined through one of North Carolina’s most dynamic performers.

Join us for a public tour of Boundless, a sculpture by NC artist Stephen Hayes commemorating the United States Colored Troops and their fight for freedom.

Join the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens for its thrilling "Colonial Wilmington & The Revolution" walking tour on March 13, June 12, September 11 and December 11!

The walking tour will invite guests to learn about how the American Revolution swept across Wilmington in the 1770s by visiting places important to the town's earliest days, including the former jail, courthouse and market sites. Get a unique perspective on what Wilmington would have looked on the eve of the Revolution, just in time for the 250th anniversary of America's independence!
