Directed by the theater’s resident artist, Kendrix Singletary, in the spectacular, special way that audiences have come to expect from the artistic team at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater. The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. Hairspray is a musical based on John Waters’ 1988 film about a teenager named Tracy Turnblad who dreams of dancing on a local TV Show in 1962 Baltimore.

Join the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens for its thrilling "Colonial Wilmington & The Revolution" walking tour on March 13, June 12, September 11 and December 11!
The walking tour will invite guests to learn about how the American Revolution swept across Wilmington in the 1770s by visiting places important to the town's earliest days, including the former jail, courthouse and market sites. Get a unique perspective on what Wilmington would have looked on the eve of the Revolution, just in time for the 250th anniversary of America's independence!
The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

The Burgwin-Wright House is excited to celebrate our 100th art show in our gallery by welcoming back local artist, Janet Sessoms, for her show "Colorful Reflections.”
The Opening reception, in conjunction with Fourth Friday Gallery Nights, is on Friday, March 27 from 6-9PM.
Sessoms artworks will be on display and for sale in our art gallery through June 20th. Admission is free. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.
About the ArtistJanet B. Sessoms, who works primarily in oils, describes her style as painterly realism. Her paintings reflect her fascination with the effects of light on the environment and inanimate objects, as well as her fondness for the landscapes of the southeast. Sessoms wanted to be an artist since the age of eight. An art educator for 22 years, Sessoms retired fourteen years ago and has been realizing her dream ever since. A self-described, life-long learner, she enjoys taking workshops by nationally renowned artists. Sessoms maintains a studio at ArtworksTM and is an active member of the Wilmington Art Association, the Art League of Leland, and Oil Painters of America. Join us for a 90-minute walking tour in historic downtown Wilmington. The tour begins and ends at the Bellamy Mansion Museum. This tour is based on "A Guide to Wilmington's African American Heritage" and will explore the people and places integral to Wilmington's Black history.
The cost is $20 per person, plus tax. Space is limited, so registration is required online at the Bellamy Mansion Museum Store. This is a rain or shine event. The tours are appropriate for all ages, but please note they may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. If you have questions, please email info@bellamymansion.org before registering.
