The annual Art in the Arboretum Show and Sale returns this year, inviting art lovers to immerse themselves in a weekend of creativity surrounded by the beauty of our 7-acre arboretum. The festival will kick off with the “Sip, Savor, and Shop” Opening Reception on Friday, October 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This exclusive event is open to Friends of the Arboretum members, sponsors, special guests, and the general public. For $35, attendees will enjoy live music, wine and beer, delicious food and desserts, exciting raffle prizes, and the chance to meet local artists and shop while they sip. With only 300 tickets available, advance purchase is recommended to ensure entry.

If you can't make it to the Opening Reception, don't worry - the festival continues through the weekend, on Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Explore the art displays, enjoy food from local food trucks, and listen to live music throughout the weekend. General admission is $5, with tickets available at the gate. Admission is free for children 12 and under, military members with current ID, and current Friends of the Arboretum members.

Please join us for the 2025 Back Door Kitchen Tour on Saturday, October 11th, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine! Presented by Residents of Old Wilmington, this annual tour raises money that ROW uses to fund grants for local nonprofit organizations doing much-needed work to improve the quality of life in Wilmington. Our 2025 recipients, granted money raised from the 2024 Back Door Kitchen Tour, include Carousel Center, DREAMS Center for Arts Education, Castle Street Collective, Williston Middle School, Alliance for Cape Fear Trees, Sister Isaac Center, and Brooklyn Arts Music Academy.

During the Back Door Kitchen Tour, homeowners graciously open what’s called the heart of the home--the kitchen--as well as the first floor, to share the history, beauty, architecture, and southern charm that Wilmington is known for. This year’s tour will showcase eight stunning homes in the Historic District. (Historic homes are typically not ADA-accessible.)

Tickets for the Back Door Kitchen Tour are $40 per person and can be purchased in advance at Eventbrite (https://backdoorkitchentour2025.eventbrite.com), where you can also get more information about the tour and view the homes being featured. If you purchase your tickets by July 31st, the code EARLYBIRD will be automatically applied at checkout, giving you $10 off each ticket.

Historic Downtown Wilmington Marketplace is a city sponsored artisan outdoor market, in our 9th year. Every Sunday from April through October, local artists set up and display their creations on Front Street between Market and Dock streets, from 10-3pm. You can find jewelry, glass, fiber, clay, paintings and wall hangings.

Wine Women & Shoes is a fundraiser benefitting paws4people®. This one-of-a-kind event is a wine tasting and boutique shopping experience that includes dinner, a live auction, and a fashion show.

Wine Women & Shoes is the fastest-growing charity event series created for women by women in the U.S. Produced in over sixty markets from Alaska to Florida (& even Canada), each event is attended by an average of 300-500 affluent women ages 30-65+. Since its inception eighteen years ago, these major annual fundraisers have raised over $126 million for various women’s and social causes.

Based here in Wilmington, paws4people is a non-profit that specializes in training customized Service Dogs for children, Veterans, First Responders, & civilians providing support for these individuals with disabilities. On October 15th, 2025, paws4people® will host their 3rd Annual Wine Women & Shoes fundraiser at The Wilmington Convention Center to raise money to educate and empower people to utilize Assistance Dogs to transform their lives. Guests will sip, savor, and shop their way through an evening of fashion and compassion.
