CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

CoastLine: Legislative Lookahead With 2019 SE NC State Reps

Vince Winkel

The new legislative session convenes next week, and the Cape Fear region has priorities.  This is the time municipalities solidify and communicate that agenda to their local delegation.

On this edition, we hear from four people representing southeastern North Carolina, and we do this in two separate segments.

Segment 1:

Listen to Reps. Deb Butler (D-18) and Ted Davis (R-19).

Representative Deb Butler (D-New Hanover County) just won her bid for re-election in District 18 – which includes parts of New Hanover and Brunswick Counties.  She is also a newly-elected Democratic whip.  After her appointment at the beginning of 2017, this will be her first full term.

Representative Ted Davis, Jr. (R-New Hanover County), starts his fourth term in the District 19 seat.

Segment 2:

Listen to Representative Holly Grange (R-20) and Senator Harper Peterson (D-9) here.

Representative Holly Grange (R-New Hanover County) starts her second full term.  She was first appointed to the seat after Rick Catlin stepped away in late 2016.

Senator Harper Peterson (D-New Hanover County) is heading to Raleigh as a legislator for the first time.  He beat then-incumbent Republican Michael Lee in the November election.
