The debate on firearms continues at the local, state, and national levels. As informed citizens, we look for debates based on logic and reason; but with more polarizing issues, it’s worth taking a look at the personal experiences that influence perceptions and resulting policy positions.

On this edition of CoastLine, we welcome two guests to the mic, one at a time, to express their position on the gun rights or reform issue – and secondly, to let us into their world a little bit.  We explore their life experiences, some of the defining moments of their lives, and hopefully, by the end of the conversation – we understand a little more deeply why they have the gun policy position that they do.

Guests:

Segment 1:  Judy McKnight, served in the U.S. Army, former corrections officer, and had a son, William, shot and killed in Wilmington in 2002

Segment 2:  Pete Olsen, former Marine, longtime member of the National Rifle Association, former WHQR Commentator
