Brenda Bozeman has served as the Mayor of Leland for eight years – which means she’s served four terms. Here's a look at what her fifth term could mean for Leland.
Brenda Bozeman handily beat challenger Shirley Lawler – picking up more than 77% of the vote to Lawson’s 22%.
Bozeman says she wants to reach an agreement with Belville and H2G0 on the future of the water utility. She also wants to see a new bridge span the Cape Fear River between Brunswick and New Hanover Counties – but not one that would take out residential neighborhoods.
She’ll have more time to work on these projects – since Leland Town Council recently decided to change the government structure so the Mayor’s term is four years instead of two.
"I like to give 100% to everything. And sometimes, at times like this, you have to make time for meet-and-greets, you have to attend some things that you normally don’t attend, and it takes a lot of time away from what you should be doing."
Bozeman says she’s proud of the economic development in Leland.
All results are unofficial until the final vote canvass on November 15th.
