CoastLine: Frank Stasio On Why Quitting Has Propelled His Career

WHQR / Katelyn Freund
Frank Stasio is the Host of The State Of Things on WUNC which airs weekdays on WHQR from 1-2 pm.

Frank Stasio has hosted The State of Things, WUNC’s public affairs program, since 2006.

But his start in public radio came much earlier – in Ames, Iowa at WOI.  His next stop:  National Public Radio in Washington, D.C., where he eventually became a newscaster on All Things Considered.

On this edition, we learn more about his time in Washington, his launch of an alternative school, and what it’s like to be a national guest anchor on Talk of The Nation.  Also, thirteen years in – what still gets him excited with State of Things?

Rachel hosts and produces CoastLine, an award-winning hourlong conversation featuring artists, humanitarians, scholars, and innovators in North Carolina. The show airs Wednesdays at noon and Sundays at 4 pm on 91.3 FM WHQR Public Media. It's also available as a podcast; just search CoastLine WHQR. You can reach her at rachellh@whqr.org.
Rachel is a graduate of UNCW's Master of Public Administration program, specializing in Urban and Regional Policy and Planning.
