CoastLine Candidate Interviews: NC Senate District 9, 2020

WHQR
Democratic Senator Harper Peterson is defending his seat against a challenge from former Republican Senator Michael Lee in 2020

North Carolina Senate District 9 covers the majority of New Hanover County – with the exception of small northern slice that is part of District 8.

It was two years ago that North Carolina Senator Harper Peterson, a Democrat from New Hanover County, pushed then-Senator Michael Lee, a Republican, out of his seat by a fraction of a percentage point.  This year, the Cape Fear region is witnessing a re-match of sorts as Lee now challenges Peterson.

Candidates:

Harper Peterson, NC Senator District 9 (D-New Hanover County), Wilmington City Council 1995-1999; Mayor of Wilmington 2001-2003; Founding Member, Cape Fear River Watch;  helped to launch the community watchdog group Clean Cape Fear
