Wrightsville Beach Sees Mayor Pro Tem Nab Mayoral Seat; No Contests In Kure Beach

Wrightsville Beach, NC
Wrightsville Beach, NC

Voters across the Cape Fear region who live in cities, towns, and villages elected their leaders November 5, 2019.

The Mayor of Wrightsville Beach, Bill Blair, did not run for another term this year after serving three consecutive terms.  Mayor Pro Tem Darryl Mills faced political newcomer Greg Buscemi in the race for mayor.  Mills, who first won a seat on the Board of Aldermen in 2011, easily scooped up the Mayoral seat with nearly 69% of the vote.

The two open seats on the Board of Aldermen in Wrightsville Beach went to the two candidates running:  Zeke Partin and Jeff DeGroote.

Kure Beach had no mayoral contest and no race for the two open seats on the Town’s Board of Commissioners. Craig Blozinsky will serve another term as Mayor.  Joseph Whitley and David Heglar also serve on the Board for another term.
