CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE CLOSURE: UPDATES, RESOURCES, AND CONTEXT

CoastLine: Blueway / Greenway Regional Network to Expand / Brunswick County Seeks Input

Brunswick County
Brunswick Nature Park accessible at NC 133 in Brunswick County has biking, hiking, horse trails, and kayak / canoe launches.

Imagine biking or hiking or even kayaking your way from the northern end of New Hanover County near Figure Eight Island down to Sunset Beach or Calabash near the South Carolina border…

What if you could wend your way through trails that traverse the central and western points around the counties with only your feet or a bicycle?  This could become a reality.

Brunswick County officials are holding two public input meetings in early March about a project that would create a network of greenways and blueways potentially connecting with neighboring jurisdictions.  New Hanover County’s plan is well underway.

On this edition of CoastLine, we learn about this network of trails.

Guests:

Kirstie Dixon, Brunswick County Senior Planner

There are two public input meetings on the blueway / greenway network planned in Brunswick County:

  • Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Town Creek Elementary School in Winnabow
  • Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Shallotte Town Hall
