WHQR has lost a great friend- Beth Steelman

WHQR is saddened to hear about the passing of former Development Director Beth Steelman. She will be greatly missed as she was a great friend of the station and very involved in the community.

Beth and her husband Ben Steelman were participants in Storycorps Mobile Tour last year. You can listen to their story here.

Her memorial servicewill be held on March 23 at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 401 Grace St., Wilmington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (March 22) at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the N.C. Coastal Land Trust.

Mary Bradley moved to Wilmington from Los Angeles, CA in May 2007 with her husband Frank and twin baby daughters, Maggie and Kate. In California, Mary had been Drive Director and the producer of Elvis Mitchell's nationally syndicated public radio interview program "The Treatment" for public radio station KCRW for ten years. Mary was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from Boston University. Mary recently served as President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Cape Fear Chapter.
