The Burgwin-Wright House is excited to celebrate our 100th art show in our gallery by welcoming back local artist, Janet Sessoms, for her show "Colorful Reflections.”

The Opening reception, in conjunction with Fourth Friday Gallery Nights, is on Friday, March 27 from 6-9PM.

Sessoms artworks will be on display and for sale in our art gallery through June 20th. Admission is free. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.

About the Artist
Janet B. Sessoms, who works primarily in oils, describes her style as painterly realism. Her paintings reflect her fascination with the effects of light on the environment and inanimate objects, as well as her fondness for the landscapes of the southeast. Sessoms wanted to be an artist since the age of eight. An art educator for 22 years, Sessoms retired fourteen years ago and has been realizing her dream ever since. A self-described, life-long learner, she enjoys taking workshops by nationally renowned artists. Sessoms maintains a studio at ArtworksTM and is an active member of the Wilmington Art Association, the Art League of Leland, and Oil Painters of America. Join the Burgwin-Wright House for its thrilling "Cape Fear Legends & Lore" on April 10, July 10 and October 9.

Pulling from nearly 300 years of history, the "Cape Fear Legends & Lore" tour will include stories of the tunnels underneath Wilmington, the legend of Lord Cornwallis' Revolutionary War visit to town, the time Yellow Fever turned the city into a ghost town, and the rebellious age of Prohibition.

The walking tour will depart from the Burgwin-Wright House (224 Market Street) at 9 a.m. and run 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.

Join us for a 90-minute walking tour in historic downtown Wilmington. The tour begins and ends at the Bellamy Mansion Museum. This tour will focus on the people and places of antebellum Wilmington while exploring the port city's role in the American Civil War.

The cost is $20 per person, plus tax. Space is limited, so registration is required online at the Bellamy Mansion Museum Store. This is a rain or shine event. The tours are appropriate for all ages, but please note they may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. If you have questions, please email info@bellamymansion.org before registering.
