USAF Airmen of Note | Jazz Concert FREE
U.S. Air Force’s premier jazz ensemble, the Airmen of Note, will be performing at Minnie Evans Arts Center (MEAC) on Thursday, September 19th at 7:00 PM. This is a rare opportunity to witness one of the finest big bands in the country, right here at Ashley High School!
Formed in 1950, the Airmen of Note carries on the legacy of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces dance band. Their performances range from classic big band hits of the 1940s to brand-new compositions, showcasing the incredible skill of 17 active-duty musicians and one vocalist. This is a free event but ticket reservations are required.
The U.S. military bands are widely considered among the very best in the world, and the Airmen of Note is no exception. Their impeccable artistry has earned them collaborations with legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, and Doc Severinsen, just to name a few. It’s not often we have a world-class group like this in Wilmington, so this is truly a “once in a good while” type of event!
