Big Dawg Productions Presents The Lifespan Of A Fact June 10- 20, 2021 Thu – Sat 8:00 pm Sunday matinees at 3:00 pm THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, by Jeremy Kareken & David Murrell and Gordon Farrell. Based on the book by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal. Produced by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service. Jim Fingal is a fresh-out-of-Harvard fact checker for a prominent but sinking New York magazine. John D’Agata is a talented writer with a transcendent essay about the suicide of a teenage boy—an essay that could save the magazine from collapse. When Jim is assigned to fact check D’Agata’s essay by editor Emily Primrose, the two come head to head in a comedic yet gripping battle over facts versus truth. As Emily had to decide if the essay can be published in time to meet a looming deadline, she (and the audience) is forced to decide if literary beauty and personal truths are as vital to the story as cold, hard facts. This energetically entertaining and surprisingly funny play is based on true events, and adapted from the book of the same name, written by D’Agata and Fingal. After 15 months of witnessing the battle over what constitutes the TRUTH vs a FACT play out on our screens and in our national conversations, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT allows us the chance to laugh, and to breathe, while framing the larger debate into one seemingly simple argument. Starring Randy Davis, Matt Carter and Eleanor Stafford. Directed by Steve Vernon.
