ILLINOIS Breweries Tap Takeover: Fermental
Join the fine folks at Fermental as they celebrate the fermented wonders of the Lincoln State with a full draft list of beer from our friends in ILLINOIS.
It's an ILLINOIS Tap Takeover: dedicating a day to our mid-west neighbors with a rotating selection of ales, lagers, ciders, mead, and more from the Windy City to the Central Plains.
ILLINOIS brewing history all begins with it’s earliest European settlers, the French. In a colonial settlement in the small Mississippi town of Kaskaskia, the first brewery was built in 1765. Later, with Chicago’s growth as a fresh water port town on Lake Michigan and recent innovations in farming technology, the fertile lands of Illinois drew immigrants from Germany and Sweden, who in turn brought their brewing heritage as well.
The oldest existing brewer in the state is Goose Island, opening in 1988. They’ve won more GABF medals than any other brewer in the state and are world renown for their Bourbon County series of beers. The current number of craft breweries in ILLINOIS is just under 300, producing 420,000 barrels of beer each year, with a nearly $3 million annual economic impact on the state.
To celebrate the malted marvels of the Prairie State, Fermental will fill the draft lines with a hand selected list of Illinois awesomeness.
