AIA Wilmington is pleased to announce the 2021 Design Awards and Lecture! The 2021 AIA Wilmington Design Awards recognize the design expertise and excellence of ARCHITECTS (not other trades), such as builders, in the AIA Wilmington section. The 2021 Jury Chair and Lecturer is Michael Davis, AIA. Michael is a Project Architect and Lead Designer at Sanders Pace Architecture. Since joining the practice in 2008, Michael has worked on a wide range of project types, from single-family homes to complex adaptive reuse development projects. He is committed to developing thoughtful and engaging designs that respond to both the programmatic needs of the client and the surrounding context of the given project. Michael is a contributing team member on many of the firm's award-winning projects, including Cape Russell Retreat, Short Mountain House, and the Loghaven Artist Residency, which received an AIA National Architecture Award in 2021. In total, his work has been recognized with over 30 awards for design excellence at the local, regional, and national levels. Michael holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee where he has served as an Adjunct Lecturer and invited critic. He is the current AIA East Tennessee President and serves on the AIA Tennessee Board of Directors. In 2021, Michael was a recipient of the AIA Young Architects Award, which honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the architecture profession early in their careers. There will be cocktails in CAM Café at 6:00PM followed by the awards & lecture at 7:00 PM.
