Join us for a night filled with festive cheer, delicious food, and great company at the 1865 Society of Pender County's Annual Christmas Gala! This special evening supports local programming and scholarships, making a meaningful impact in our community.
This year, we are proud to honor Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation with the prestigious Annual Trailblazer Award. We are also excited to introduce two new awards: The Living Legacy Award, presented to Mrs. Virginia Rochelle, a retired educator from Pender Public Schools, and the Rising Stars Award, recognizing outstanding talent and leadership in our school system. This year’s recipients are Mr. Tony Hudson of Heidi Trask High School in Rocky Point, NC, and Mr. Brian Allen of Burgaw Middle School in Burgaw, NC.
The 1865 Society of Pender County, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2023. Our mission is to preserve and promote the rich culture and history of African Americans, honoring their contributions to our nation's development. Through educational programs, community engagement, and societal interactions, we aim to foster a deep understanding of our shared heritage and promote unity within Pender County, across North Carolina, and throughout America.
