HQR News will air NPR's coverage of President Trump's 2020 State of the Union address, which comes under the shadow of his impeachment trial. Watch his remarks live and follow a live annotation of his remarks, including fact checks and analysis from NPR reporters.

The Senate is holding a trial on the impeachment of President Trump, who is accused by the U.S. House of abusing his power and obstructing Congress. Each day of the trial will stream through this player as proceedings begin. At the conclusion of the trial, senators are expected to vote on whether Trump should be removed from office.

Congress is taking additional steps to prepare for the upcoming Senate impeachment trial. The newly appointed House impeachment managers, who will present the case for impeachment, are reading the articles in the Senate chamber. Senators are also being sworn in as jurors.

September's Democratic presidential debate has been narrowed to one night only, as more candidates have called it quits altogether.  It's the third debate of the campaign and the first time that former Vice President Joe Biden, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are all together.

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron are holding a press conference from the G-7 summit of world economic leaders in France. He had meetings with multiple heads of state over the weekend. The summit comes ahead of a looming recession and amid an ongoing trade war with China.

On Monday, May 27th at 7pm, HQR News will air a Memorial Day Special: "Brains and Losses: The bottom line on aging and financial vulnerability."

In honor of Women's Month, WHQR will be broadcasting several special programs in March. They are:

Sunday, March 10th @ 4pm -- A Change of World -- Meryl Streep narrates an hour-long documentary special about how the Women’s Movement changed poetry, and how women poets changed the culture. 

WHQR is pleased to offer a special four-part radio series, Gospel Roots of Rock and Soul celebrating Black gospel music’s profound and under acknowledged influence on early rock and soul music. The series will air February 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th at 7pm. 

  WHQR mourns the passing of incredible entertainer, Wilmington native, and famed composer, arranger, pianist, and singer, Grenoldo Frazier (1953-2018) who passed away during the holidays. Grenoldo was monumental in shaping Wilmington’s arts and music scene. No matter the genre--jazz, Broadway and movie music, patriotic favorites, holiday music, or contemporary music done with a twist--Grenoldo was always a captivating performer.

Pre-election Special Programming, 11/1/18 & 11/2/18 at 3pm

WHQR will be airing two live pre-election, call-in shows from WFAE & WUNC this week. These programs are scheduled to air this Thursday (11/1/18) and Friday (11/2/18) at 3pm. 

On Saturday, 11/3/18, at 4pm, WHQR will host special programming. 

2018 marks the 10-year anniversary of the financial crisis, and Marketplace has spent the year exploring how it changed America. “Divided Decade” draws a line from 2008 to the tumultuous political, cultural and economic climate America is experiencing today.

This Sunday, 9/23/18, and next Sunday, 9/30/18, WHQR will run special programming. On both dates, Neil Conan hosts “The Democracy Test” from Truth, Politics and Power at 2pm. Poltical Junkie will run at 3pm.
