At 1:00 p.m. on December 3, The Metropolitan Opera begins it 86th year of Saturday afternoon broadcasts, hosted by Mary Jo Heath.
Full-length performances from the stage of the MET in New York begin with Anna Netrebko in the title role of Giacomo Puccini's passionate, voracious Manon Lescaut. The season includes new productions of Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet, Gioachino Rossini's William Tell, Antonin Dvorak's Rusalka, and Richard Wagner's Tristan and Isolde, and ends May 13 with Renee Fleming, Elina Garanca, and Erin Morley in the elegant sensuality and of Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier.
