With a soulful voice, a bottomless bag of guitar licks, and a mean harmonica, Randy McQuay has been making a mark for himself since his high school days in Brunswick County. He cut his teeth at Cape Fear Blues Jams, formed the vivacious RootSoul Project, and pursued a solo career that has truly come into its own in recent years. He's a two-time winner of the Cape Fear Blues Challenge, twice opening the door to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. He brought home the Lee Oskar Harmonica Player Award in 2012 and was crowned IBC Solo Champion in January 2015. His notoriety is prolific - his gigs are booked solid, he'll entertain at blues festivals all across North America this year, and he'll enjoy a week-long Caribbean excursion as a featured artist on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise in October with the likes of Buddy Guy, Irma Thomas, Corey Harris and Buckwheat Zydeco. Another CD of his original work is coming soon. He's an astute businessman, producer, songwriter and a masterful interpreter of American roots music. And it's easy to see that he loves every minute of it!
