It's not easy to present a play at the USS Battleship North Carolina. But after learning the ropes last year (and having a lot of fun), Thaian Association is ready to do it again with The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.
After last year's successful Battleship production, "Mr. Roberts," Thalian Association Executive Director Susan Habas asked Artistic Director Chandler Davis to find another show that would make sense being similarly staged. Aside from the artistic merits of the show, Chandler and actor Charles Calhoun say the location is an experience in itself. Picnic baskets are allowed-and don't worry about the heat of a summertime outdoor performance. Aside from almost all showtimes being at 8:00pm, there are "easy breezers" that mist (but don't dampen) audiences.
Performances run Fridays-Sundays, June 29-July 15. These performances are at 8:00pm. The special 4th of July performance is at 7:00pm and the audience gets to enjoy fireworks from the USS North Carolina. Tickets are available online, at the Community Arts Center (downtown Wilmington at 2nd & Orange Streets), and at the Battleship beginning at 6:00pm on performance nights.
