Chamber Music Wilmington presents its 2nd performance of the season this weekend: the award-winning Chicago-based Kontras Quartet. The show is this Sunday at Beckwith Recital Hall at 7:30pm. We spoke by telephone with Jean Hatmaker, the cellist of the group. Hatmaker talks about the orchestral vs. the quartet lifestyle, how to introduce audiences to new music, and the importance of music education. Listen above.
The Kontras Quartet will play Antonin Dvorak's Quartet No.9, Heitor Villa Lobos' String Quartet No. 5, plus two pieces by living composers: Osvaldo Golijov's Tenebrae and Dan Visconti's Black Bend.
