Kids Making It is holding its Annual Breakfast on Tuesday, June 21st at the Coastline Convention Center by the river on Nutt Street. The Building Kids Up Breakfast is a fundraiser, but it doesn't cost a dime to attend. One aim of the event is to spread information about the program; donations in any amount are welcome. Networking begins at 7:30 am and the program runs 8:00 am-9:00 am.
Kids Making It teaches youth and young adults technical and trade skills, with the core of the program centered on woodworking. Older students, beginning at 13, can learn maintenance skills (plumbing, electricity) and construction. Ultimately, the aim of the program is to help youth develop personally to be successful in whatever direction they take in life. Listen to Founder & Executive Director Jimmy Pierce talk about the program above.
It's learning the basics of how to use your hands to do things...you cannot outsource building and the construction trades. -Jimmy Pierce
Reserve a seat for the Breakfast online, email, or call 910-763-6001. The Carolina Marine Terminal and George & Sylvia Rountree are sponsoring this event, with catering from Middle of the Island.
