Science instructor Jared Pinkston from Pender High School joined us to talk about science programs going on at Pender High-and in Pender County in general. For instance, Pender County Schools received a grant that makes it possible for high school students to take part in a world-wide robot competition called 1st Inspire Robotics. The work on a robot for the challenge is centered at Pender High, but students from other high schools are invited to participate.
A science student from Pender High School also joined us, Miguel Ortiz-Cruz. Miguel is a senior participating in Science Olympiad, the Robotics Competition, and the Electric Car Project. These projects are all in need of community mentors versed in everything from engineering to programming to marketing to help the teams succeed.
