Kim Henry Luvs 2 Act: Creative Performance Workshops for Youth

Students presenting "The Tree of Truth" with Luv2Act

Kim Henry moved to Wilmington about 4 years ago and within 2 weeks began teaching drama workshops for children.  She had started a company several years earlier in Spain, calledLuv2Act, and she wanted to continue her work here.  She knew she was doing the work she loved most.

Luv2Act Workshop "Monster High"

Ms. Henry studied drama in her home country, England, and traveled extensively, learning a variety of creative and unconventional theatrical styles-most notably, working with an Augusto Boal project (Theatre of the Oppressed) in India.

Ms. Henry works in an open-ended style with her students, providing a structure for a performance, and following the lead of her students as they fill in the meat on the bones with their own stories and ideas.  This semester, she has 3 workshops for youth in our area through Luv2Act:

  • Mondays 4:15-5:45 at the Carolina Beach Recreation Center (ages 7+)
  • Fridays 3:30-5:00 at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center (ages 7+)
  • Thursdays 10:00-Noon at the Northeast Library (Homeschool Group-ages 6+)

Additionally, Ms. Henry co-teaches a drama class for people with diffabilities (different abilities), ages 8 through adulthood, at Theatre Now on Saturday mornings, 10:30-Noon.  This class is part of a project called Theatre for All.

All these performance workshops are accepting enrollment through the start of October.
