Healing Invisible Wounds: Jen Johnson & Dr. Kyle Horton

Jen Johnson & Dr. Kyle Horton

It was kismet that counselor, photographer, mindfulness teacher, and writer Jen Johnson met with Dr. Kyle Horton.  They both had a deep interest in helping veterans suffering with post-war adjustment issues, and they both had special skills that could be intertwined to do something about it.  They joined forces and created Invisible Wounds of War.

The project addresses veteran difficulties from multiple angles.  Some of it is counseling, some creation.  Right now, the focus is on a combined writing and photography project that will be exhibited at UNCW's Randall Library.  The project aims to put soldiers at the center of the their own storytelling about their experiences.  They also hope to overcome barriers between enlisted military, veterans, and civilians.

On Saturday, September 12, a writing workshop is offered as a part of the project.  The workshop is at the Northeast Branch of the New Hanover County Library, running from 12:30-4:30.  Find out more about all the workshops and events the project offers here.
