Veronica Carter Looking For Smart Growth In Run For Leland Town Council

Veronica Carter

Veronica Carter is a retired Army Officer and former Civil Servant with almost 40 years of experience managing logistical operations in the U.S. and overseas. Today she’s in the race for Leland Town Council. Carter says she’s running so some people don’t get left behind.

Carter says the damage from Hurricane Florence is a factor in her run for Leland Town Council. As she worked with various organizations during the recovery efforts, she says she became aware of residents who were not getting the support they needed.

“We aren’t talking about really depressed or poor people or not working people. We're talking people - seniors who have spent their entire life in Leland who own a home but didn't have insurance. We're talking our first responders, our teachers, and as we grow in our community, I want to see us grow together. I want to see us grow smartly, and I want to see us be better than we are now.”

Carter says town growth can be accomplished without sacrificing development or the environment. Vince Winkel, WHQR News.
