Joe Biden is now the clear front-runner for the Democratic Presidential nomination after Super Tuesday. Michael Bloomberg dropped out Wednesday morning and endorsed Biden – and North Carolina has proven to be an important state in this development.
But the Cape Fear region is likely to have its own critical impact in this election year. As The Hill reported last September, New Hanover County will be one of the key counties deciding the November election.
But in North Carolina on March 3rd, voters also selected those candidates they want to see on the November ballot for county commissioner, board of education, and state house and senate. They chose their council of state candidates – from auditor to commissioners of labor, agriculture, insurance.
Representative Holly Grange, a Republican from New Hanover County, lost her bid for her party’s gubernatorial nomination, while Dan Forest goes on to face Democratic Governor Roy Cooper in the fall.
On this edition, we look at the candidates for whom the 2020 Election road has come to an end – and unpack who now battles it out in November.
