CoastLine Candidate Interviews: NC House District 19

Katelyn Freund

North Carolina House District 19 encompasses the southern portion of New Hanover County.

Guests:

Republican Representative Ted Davis, Junior has served that District for three-and-a-half terms; he is now seeking his fourth.  In 2012, he was appointed to finish out the term of Danny McComas, who stepped away to take the helm of the North Carolina Ports Authority Board of Directors.  Davis went on to win the seat in that fall’s election.  He won a second term in 2014, and embarked upon his third term unopposed in 2016.

This year, however, he faces challenges from Libertarian David Perry and Democratic Candidate Marcia Morgan.

Democratic challenger Marcia Morgan worked as Director of Master’s Theses in the Physical Education Department at Smith College for two years.  She enlisted in the Army and fulfilled assignments in Korea, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Pentagon.  After retiring as a Colonel, she returned as a contractor and says she continues to provide logistical support to soldiers.
