Elections 2018: Rob Zapple Looking For Second Term On NHC Board Of Commissioners

Note: Rob Zapple is a member of the Board of Directors, of Friends of Public Radio - WHQR.

Three Democrats are on the primary ballot for the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners. Incumbent Rob Zapple, James Middleton and Julia Olson-Boseman.  Rob Zapple was first elected to the board in 2014.

Managing the continued growth of New Hanover County responsibly includes protecting the region’s quality of life, says Rob Zapple.

He also says it can’t come at the cost of supporting public education... or arts funding… or school safety.

On the subject of GenX and clean water, he says the county commissioners have been unified and successful in getting Raleigh to listen.

“I know because of the efforts of the county commission saying with one voice, that we want this to stop up to Raleigh, that’s in turn put pressure on the EPA and why we’re now, we’ve been told, going to finally see federal regulations and federal standards for the GenX, its only one of the now I’m told up to 300 different contaminants, things that are in our water, that shouldn’t be there.”

Early voting starts April 19th
