Last night, Wilmington City Council voted in favor of resolutions regarding the proposed baseball stadium and announced a potential location.
City Council’s approval of three resolutions puts the city in a position to finance a baseball stadium should Wilmington voters approve the issuing of a general obligation bond. That referendum will be on the November ballot. City Council members say that the $42M previously discussed represents the highest estimate for construction costs. Actual costs could be as low as $20M. The city will meet with Mandalay and the Braves in the coming weeks and present final figures on the stadium project in a public hearing scheduled for August 7th.
Separately, the city announced #10 Harnett Street as a potential site for the stadium. Construction at the location has already begun on the marina and hotel. Andrew Jarachovic, WHQR News.
