This year, Joshua Johnson, the rising star at NPR and host of show 1A, will serve as our luncheon speaker. Fans of 1A have experienced Johnson’s ability to navigate the most divisive issues in our society – from race relations to gun control to campaign law – in a manner that is consistently fair, consistently informative, and wholly representative of the kind of news we value as listeners and supporters of WHQR. Join us for lunch with Joshua Johnson and experience the same nuanced approach to current events in-person that listeners have been hearing over the radio since 1A hit the air.
Listener-supported WHQR Public Radio was started 34 years ago to meet community needs and has expanded to offer two signals – 91.3fm HQR News and Classical HQR 92.7fm. HQR strives to offer news, music, entertainment and interaction to expand knowledge, encourage artistic appreciation, engage our community and promote civil discourse.
