Twenty years ago, Pastor Paul’s church was nothing more than a modest storefront. Now he presides over a congregation of thousands, with classrooms for Sunday School, a coffee shop in the lobby, and a baptismal font as big as a swimming pool. Today should be a day of celebration. But Paul is about to preach a sermon that will shake the foundations of his church’s belief. Backed by a gospel choir, The Christians is both epic and unexpectedly intimate, an unflinching look at faith in America — and its power to unite or divide. The Christians will run at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Performances are November 11th – 14th and 18th – 21st in the Mainstage Theatre at the UNCW Cultural Arts Building. Tickets are $15 for members of the general public, $12 for seniors, UNCW employees, and alumni, and $6 for students (sales tax included.) Parking is free for theatre patrons in the pay station spaces in front of the Cultural Arts Building (CAB) (lot Q), in gated lot Q and across the street from the CAB in lot I after 5 pm Monday - Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. UNCW students, faculty and staff need a valid parking permit to park on campus at all times. COVID-19 POLICY: Audience members will be required to wear a mask at all times inside of the building and throughout the performance. Social Distance seating will be available for those who would prefer to distance however not everyone will be required to social distance.
