THE HOUSE THAT GORDY BUILT: A TRIBUTE TO THE MOTOWN SOUND
From the company that brought you last year’s theatrical event of the season, “The Color Purple” comes “The House that Gordy Built: A Tribute to the Motown Sound.” The shows will be held at Thalian Hall Center for Performing Arts at 310 Chestnut St Wilmington, NC 28401 on Friday, May 31-June 1@ 7:30pm, June 2 @ 2:00pm, June 8 @ 2:00 and 7:30pm and June 9 @ 2:00pm. The production, presented by Techmoja Dance and Theatre Company and directed by Kevin Lee-Y Green, uses the music of Motown to tell the story of twelve friends, living in the tenements of Detroit in the late 60's - early 70s. It shows the power of community as they navigate family, the Vietnam War, and relationships. Featuring a score of favorites including: My Girl, Shop Around, Brick House, I'll Be There, and many more.
