Thalian Hall Main Stage Theatre
Lee Hayden is an aging Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy, until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte, and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy, all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy. Stars Sam Elliott, Nick Offerman, Laura Prepon, and Krysten Ritter.
From the critics:
"Elliott does some of his finest work in one of the best movies in his career, a drama that feels like a biography." Colin Covert - Minneapolis Star Tribune
"The Hero, as elsewhere, [Haley] really is dealing with the subject of heroism, but the kind of heroism not usually found in movies — the heroism of daily life." Mick LaSalle - San Francisco Gate
