2023 City of Wilmington Council Elections: Candidate Kevin Spears

WHQR sat down with all seven candidates for Wilmington's City Council — two incumbents and five newcomers who are running for three seats. On this episode of The Newsroom, an interview with incumbent Kevin Spears.

On this show, an interview with incumbent Councilman Kevin Spears, who was elected to his first term in 2019. Spears was born and raised in Wilmington, and is currently raising his family here. He’s the former president of Peace for the Port, a nonprofit focusing on reducing community violence, he previously ran for school board in 2016 and won in the primary but lost in the general — although he told WHQR he learned a lot of valuable lessons about campaigning that year.
