New Hanover County's 7-acre Arboretum opened 27 years ago and it continues to improve, increasing educational and creative programming for all ages and abilities. One reason the Arboretum thrives is because of a group of volunteers called Friends of the Arboretum (FOA), dedicated to supporting the gardens with money, time, and muscle. John Ranalli is the President of FOA, and listen to the enthusiasm he brings to this year's main FOA fundraiser: Art in the Arboretum. The event is this weekend, Friday-Sunday, rain or shine.

Art in the Arboretum is all about art, and 135 artists have provided 2D/3D pieces for the festival. Artists will also be onsite to paint en plein air portraits for attendees. Live music plays throughout-jazz, classical, folk, and more-plus activities provided by Children's Museum of Wilmington for kids. Art, goods, and services are up for auction-and if you can't make it to the event, you can still make bids online.
Art in the Arboretum. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 9/30-10/2. 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Overflow parking on Bradley Drive.
