CAPE FEAR MEMORIAL BRIDGE: Updates, resources, and context

Communique: "Bringing Nature Home" With Dr. Doug Tallamy | Native Plants Essential For Bird Life

Doug Tallamy
Dr. Doug Tallamy

A delicate balance exists between plants, bugs, and birds. Obviously, the bugs eat the plants and the birds eat the bugs, but one element we might not think about is the effect non-native plants have on this food chain. Dr. Doug Tallamy has thought about it and written about. Tallamy is the Chair of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware. He'll speak about ideas from his recent book Bringing Nature Home tomorrow at 1:00 at St. James Community Center on Southport-Supply Road. Native plant vendors will be at the event, and Dr. Tallamy will sign copies of his book. Find more information and online tickets here.

Julie Livingston (St. James Garden Club) & Charley Winterbauer (Cape Fear Audubon Society)

Charlie Winterbauer, President of the Cape Fear Audubon Society, and Julie Livingston, president of the St. James Garden Club, joined us to talk about Dr. Tallamy and the importance of native plants. Cape Fear Audubon and St. James Garden Club are the sponsors of this event.

Dr. Doug Tallamy, "Bringing Nature Home." Saturday, 9/24, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at St. James Community Center, 4136 Southport-Supply Road SE, St. James, NC
