On August 6, musician Drake Murphy from Moore County, North Carolina, won Best Rock Male in the Carolina Music Awards. This award covers North and South Carolina. Two songs from Murphy's first album, Feel Better, are below. The first is what Drake says is his best song; the second is his favorite song from the album.
Murphy has been creating music under his own name, but he's in the process of changing that. He's now performing with the title A Strike Within. Listen to his reason for this change above.
Murphy plays at least 12 instruments and plays, mixes, and produces all the tracks on his songs. He's currently in Los Angeles and has a new album coming out that reflects his musical development. He's playing a gig with his musical family, the Murphy Family Ensemble, called Music of the Heart, a Night to Remember in Southern Pines tonight at Pinecrest High School.
